A superb and beautifully preserved example of the 1796 pattern cavalry officer’s piece. Around 90% of the surface on both sides retains its original blue and gilt finish, with bright gilt detailing and only light areas of surface age visible. The officer’s sharkskin grip remains excellent, with all grip wire present — a few strands slightly loose from age. Standard D-shaped hilt complete and well-fitted. Presented with its original undamaged steel scabbard featuring both hanging rings. Length: 79.6cm. An outstanding and highly desirable example of a late Georgian officer’s sidearm.
