This is a near-mint condition example of an officer's dress pouch and matching cross belt, representing the 15th Hussars at the height of their ceremonial splendour. The set dates from the early 20th century, specifically the King Edward VII or George V era, as indicated by the King’s Crown insignia.

The pouch is constructed with a red cloth base and is entirely free of moth damage. It features the highest quality hand embroidery achievable at the turn of the century, with the gold bullion wire remaining virtually mint and bright. The face of the pouch displays the regimental title and the full suite of battle honours earned up until that period. The matching cross belt features excellent, bright lace and highly polished gilt metallic fittings. One of the brass studs used for securing the belt to the pouch is present but has come adrift from its original fixing point. Internally, the red leather of the cross belt is personalised with the owner's initials, P V H.

The 15th Hussars, originally raised as the 15th Light Dragoons in 1759, possessed a storied and sometimes controversial history. They served with distinction across numerous global campaigns until their amalgamation with the 19th Royal Hussars in 1922. This set is a remarkable survival of British cavalry heritage, noteworthy for its exceptional state of preservation and the crispness of its bullion work.
