usa-wwii-china-burma-india-grouping
USA WWII CHINA, BURMA, INDIA GROUPING

A fabulous grouping of headdress of a China, Burma, India, and a Hump pilot, the baseball cap has been personalised. Standard leather baseball cap, which appears to be locally produced, with the addition of a flight helmet, studs and hooks added to the side. The front peak is suede over leather. The peak has been personalised in the colours of the China, Burma, India arm patch of red and white. The number of missions that this pilot completed has been painted right across the top of the peak, with the front part of the peak in white leather with two types of stars. The Nationalist Chinese badge in enamel was placed at the very front of the cap with a Lieutenant’s Bar on the front peak between the two stars. A button to the centre painted, which is very difficult to work out, but looks like a good luck charm. Accompanied by this same pilot’s Tropical 50 mission cap with the name ‘P.S.Edmunds’ hand applied to the inner peak. The majority of the side lining has been removed from the cap; it has seen considerable wear, conversant with the amount of mission painted on the baseball cap peak, with its gilded American Eagle badge, front strap and correct side buttons. These two items are highly evocative, as the transport aviator over the China, Burma Mountains was extremely dangerous, and the rate of casualties was huge. This Hump Mission was to help keep China in the war by supplying the Chinese via India.

Ref; 96052

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0859/4420/5648/files/DSC_5949_8e7ca240-ee8a-470b-8349-0abcbd0e1d99.jpg?v=1772802514
