Constructed in deep olive drab, the four-pocket tunic has pocket flaps in the Austro-Hungarian style. All of the buttons of the composition type show the Bulgarian Lion. A lighter shade of olive green collar with officers' collar patches. Recently, a very fine Bulgarian World War II and World War I collection sold in an auction in central Europe. Before describing this helmet, we would remind collectors that the metal helmets worn by cavalrymen of all nations were repeatedly damaged, this was the result of falling off their horses, and the helmets were constantly being restored by depot repairers. This is an example of that type of helmet. The basic skull is in excellent, undamaged, and unrepaired condition. At the rear of the lobster tail most of the silver trim from the right-hand side and the left-hand side is missing. This can be viewed on our website images. All the nickel rivet heads are in place. At the front of the helmet, all the nickel edging is excellent and in place. The eagle is undamaged, apart from an indentation to the half-moon-shaped eagle base. The eagle itself is loose on its base, but the base itself is very tight to the skull of the helmet. It has lost most of its finish and is with an NCO’s gilded crown, which itself has had a minor indentation. The chinstraps are the correct large size convex worn by all Guard Du Korps and Kuirassier Regiments. Complete with its single large-sized national red, white and black cockade and its NCO rank State cockade. To the interior, the leather liner is complete. The helmet is maker marked ‘P Casten & Sohne’ underneath the front of the stepped peak. At some stage of life, the front plate has become damaged and has been replaced. In the process of this, the original hole for the original larger size plate is left exposed and again can be seen in our web images. Because of the damage and the period-replaced plate, the helmet is priced according to the condition and its history, and in our opinion, it is an exceptionally reasonably priced Guard Du Korps NCO’s helmet.

Ref; 95640

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0859/4420/5648/files/DSC_1588_ecfdc01b-bf5e-460b-b148-57e61bf2536e.jpg?v=1766493637
british-15th-the-king-s-hussars-officers-dress-pouch-and-cross-belt
ENGLISH 15TH HUSSARS DRESS POUCH AND CROSS BELT

A near mint condition pouch and belt, the pouch itself is completely free of moth, red base cloth with the highest quality hand embroidery available at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. The watercolour portrait is beautifully mounted, the portrait itself in oval form measuring 15.5cm x 20cm, which is then set into the most fabulous gilded frame, which is then itself set again in a velvet-lined glazed box. The framing is all period and complements a superb painting of Colonel Mausland seated wearing his full dress tunic, campaign medal at his upper left breast, holding his 5th Dragoon Guard officer's helmet in his hand on his knee. The rear of the frame is also lined in velvet. It is quite obvious that the painting has never been out of the frame.

Ref; 96054

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0859/4420/5648/files/DSC_5977_7663c357-eaf7-4ef8-89d7-d18749c807d6.jpg?v=1772802710
french-1870-gras-bayonet-with-american-historical-connections
FRENCH 1870 GRAS BAYONET WITH AMERICAN HISTORICAL CONNECTIONS

A very nice condition Gras bayonet, excellent blade.
